Future healthcare leaders in Rwanda

Helping Hands for Rwanda board member, Janelle Ruhumuliza went to Kigali, Rwanda recently and met the 13 Medical Students that received the tuition sponsorship for this school year.  HHFR hosted a lunch for the students to meet, motivate and inspire.  The future of healthcare is looking bright!

During the luncheon, the students were able to talk about some of the challenges they’ve had to overcome of the last year due to the global covid-19 pandemic.  Without the assistance of the generosity of the donors, many of them would have had to drop out and make a difficult decision to work hard labor until they could afford to continue their education.

One of the best parts of the luncheon was the ability to capture the students in a video and hear some of their stories! We invite to you watch the video created to get to know these future leaders a bit more.  Each one has a different story, but similar in their gratitude and appreciation for what the scholarship means to them and their families.

Another exciting donation HHFR received for the students came from FIGS who kindly donated scrubs for all of the medical students.  FIGS has a commitment to giving back and this was definitely a highlight to receive the pictures of the students in their scrubs!  Thank you FIGS for making a wonderful impact on these healthcare students who won’t soon forget this lovely gift.

Helping Hands for Rwanda is so grateful for the hard work of each and every student.  They expressed such dedication to continuing their education and becoming doctors to help the people of Rwanda.  They are hopeful for their future accomplishments and we can’t wait to see their success!
